Live-In Caretaker / General Land Manager

The Caretaker / Land Manager will be accountable for:

  • Guest experience / management. This includes replying and coordinating through email, phone, Airbnb, and HipCamp, and providing a 5 star experience to all guests. As well as keeping tents clean and starting saunas or showing guests how.

  • Prep and guest management for our “Live The Off Grid Dream” Workshops. Helping with food pick up, having all tents clean and ready, showing guests to their stay, having wood stocked, and lighting saunas at night for the group.

  • Keeping the general operations running smoothly and systemized. Propane stocked, firewood stocked, fuel tanks full, generators full, etc.)

  • Doing pick up and drop off runs for supplies and garbage etc.

  • Giving your input on systemization and making operations easier and more efficient.

  • Managing Volunteers, coordinate arrivals, team placement, and showing them the space. And also having them help you with things!

  • Coordinate with online team on events and dates to make sure things are ready.

  • Help with event planning for workshops, team building events, etc.

  • Help the onsite permaculture and building teams with basic tasks like landscaping, beautifying the land, and misc tasks when needed.

  • Reporting and sharing results in weekly meetings

  • Helping out and learning in other areas

    • We are a small team so we tend to jump around and help out in different areas. Plus, it keeps things interesting and lets everyone learn.

  • Looking after your personal health with weekly fitness and mindfulness goals

Experience & Traits Needed

  • 2-5+ years as a land caretaker / guest management or other relevant experience.

  • Quick Learner with the ability to complete tasks, optimize them, and systemize them for others to do.

  • A deep enjoyment of nature, learning, and providing everyone on the land with an experience they will never forget.

  • An intuitive understanding of how to proactively answer the next questions someone might ask

  • Must have valid drivers license

  • A good sense of humour and playfulness

  • You like to get things done, to do the task well, and fill your time productively (the opposite of not wanting to work and complaining about it)

Not Needed But A Benefit

  • Ability to operate basic farm equipment like tractors, skid steers, etc

  • Can hook up and tow a trailer confidently

  • Your vehicle is a truck

  • Have you own cell phone

  • Have your own laptop

Housing

  • Your own dwelling is required at this time for this position

  • We recommend a tiny home but a trailer or other options are fine. It can be a tough go up here in the winter sometimes.

  • Your immediate Family is welcome! We don’t expect you to leave them behind and come live out here on your own!

  • You will have use of all public spaces for washrooms, showering, cooking, doing dishes, laundry, and the spa

  • We supply water. May have to transport it at first but will get a water line ran to your resident site.

  • You must supply your own power source. Solar with back up gen. If you don’t have solar yet we can hook you up at cost with our supplier.

Salary

  • $3000-4000 / month starting salary (competative)

  • Bonuses based on targets

  • Higher targets will be discussed to get you to your goals

  • 3 month onboarding period (some benefits kick in right away, others will kick in when the onboarding period is complete)

Training

One-on-one training and on-boarding on-site with Shelby (co-founder)
